The peel, of a beautiful citrine yellow color, is of medium thickness and is very perfumed for the rich presence in essential oils.

These peculiar qualitative characteristics make the Limone di Sorrento a product of excellence for its category, both for the market of fresh lemons and for the production of the famous limoncello, infused with lemon peels immersed in pure alcohol, that in this area of origin has found its international consecration.

Natural lemons with leaf are juicy fruits, rich in beneficial properties such as vitamin C, potassium, sodium and iron. These citrus fruits are untreated, with their thick edible peel prepare different recipes and infusions, like the famous limoncello.

By comparing the common lemons with those of the Amalfi Coast we would already realize the morphological differences: the size, the smooth and thicker skin, the pulp with an intense yellow color, the elongated shape and the perfume very strong.

The lemons, also known as the "Sfusati Amalfitani" are characterized by the medium-gross size (cescun lemon does not weigh less than 85 grams), a straw yellow pulp with a highly acidic juice and is rich in vitamin C as all citrus fruits: mandarins, oranges, cedar, mandarancio, bergamot, chinotto, grapefruit, pomelo, lime and lemons.

The peel is smooth and of medium thickness and is very perfumed for the rich presence in essential oils, and is of a citrine yellow color.

The Lemon of Sorrento IGP is a citrus in the fresh state of the species Citrus limon L., Burmann, in the local ecotype Oval of Sorrento also known as Limone di Massa Lubrense or Massese.
